UC Berkeley College of Engineering and Haas School of Business Launch New Professional Certification in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Collaboration with Emeritus

The six-month program, starting March 2, 2022, is designed to help technical professionals foster the skills needed to start a career in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).

BOSTON — February 14, 2022 — ML and AI are transforming industries and everyday life in countries across the globe. To help meet the exploding demand for technical professionals with the specialized skills to develop future ML and AI innovations, UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering, Haas School of Business, Berkeley Executive Education and Berkeley Engineering Executive and Professional Education have joined forces to create the Professional Certification in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence online program, launching on March 2, 2022.

Developed in collaboration with Emeritus, this six-month program leverages the advanced technical expertise of UC Berkeley College of Engineering and ML/AI business application insights from Berkeley Haas. It is led by two members of the esteemed UC Berkeley faculty, Gabriel Gomes and Joshua Hug, and features guest speakers who have successfully deployed ML/AI technologies.

“Over a recent 12-month period, there were nearly 565,000 job postings in the United States alone seeking professionals with skills in machine learning or artificial intelligence,” said Gabriel Gomes, Researcher and lecturer with the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley Executive Education. “We are pleased to prepare the next generation of technical professionals for these roles so they can advance ML/AI technology and solve real-world business problems.”

“According to Forbes magazine, the AI job market has grown by 270% in the last four years and that growth is projected to continue across virtually all industries. This program was designed to help meet that demand and train the next wave of technical professionals in these increasingly sought-after skills.” said Erin Rosenblatt, Vice President of Professional Certificates at Emeritus.

The Professional Certification in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is an intensive, rigorous program designed to provide participants with hands-on skills. Learners will spend 15-20 hours per week learning how to apply these technologies over 24 weeks. The program fee is $7,500. To learn more or apply, please visit here.
