Supplementary Privacy Notice for Emeritus Testimonial Initiative

1. Purpose and Scope

This Supplementary Privacy Notice for Emeritus Testimonial Initiative (‘Notice’) describes how your or students personal data and information is collected, managed and processed by Emeritus (together with its relevant subsidiaries, associates, and affiliated companies, collectively referred to as “Emeritus”, “us”, “we”, or “the Company”) for the purpose of marketing and promoting its online executive courses worldwide (‘Purpose’).

This Notice is supplementary to the Students’ and Course Applicants’ Privacy Notice and should be read in conjunction with the same.

2. Categories of personal data we collect about you

Emeritus collects the following types of personal data from you for the Purpose earlier stated:

3. How do we collect your personal data (Source)?

Emeritus collects through various sources such as:

  • Enrolment and Course Surveys: Information provided during the enrolment process and feedback collected through course surveys about Emeritus services and courses.
  • Pre-Approved Communication Channels: Information gathered via email, phone calls, WhatsApp, and text messages.
  • Video Recording/Conferencing Platforms: Recordings and communications through platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other platforms used by Emeritus at its discretion.

Please ensure that all personal data that you provide to us is accurate, correct, complete, and up to date at the time of submission. This is to ensure accurate and true representation of your experiences and feedback. Please keep us informed of any changes to the personal data you have submitted with us.

4. Why do we collect your personal data?

The purpose of collecting your personal data and information is to gather testimonials regarding your experience of the video-based online executive courses offered by Emeritus. These testimonials may be in text and/or video format and will be used to market and promote our online executive courses across various marketing channels. Specifically, your information may be used on the following mediums and platforms:

  • Official Company Website and Pages: Publishing testimonials on Emeritus’s official websites and related pages.
  • Social media and Performance Marketing Platforms: Publishing testimonials on platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter to reach a broader audience.
  • Printed Materials: Publishing brochures, flyers, e-books, and other printed materials for both online and offline events.
  • In-House Company Platforms: Displaying testimonials on internal platforms for staff and stakeholder engagement.
  • Email Campaigns: Utilizing testimonials in email newsletters and promotional campaigns sent to prospective and current students’ and course applicants.
  • Third-Party Publishing Platforms: Publishing testimonials on third-party platforms that collaborate with Emeritus for marketing and promotional purposes.

The contents of your testimonial can be presented either as a whole or in parts across these marketing channels for our video-based online executive courses promotion. You understand and consent to granting us rights, including the right to edit, mix, or duplicate and to use or reuse the testimonials, in whole or part, and the worldwide right to broadcast, publicize, exhibit, promote, market, and display your testimonial along with your identity, for commercial or non-commercial purposes, which Emeritus may determine. Emeritus shall have absolute ownership of the product or material in which you or your testimonial appear, including copyright interests and derivative works. You also understand and agree that your personal data and testimonial may be placed on the internet, and you may be identified by name and/or title in printed, internet, or broadcast information that might accompany the testimonial. Therefore, you agree to release Emeritus and its representatives or partners from any claims or demands arising out of such use of testimonials and personal data.

5. With whom do we share your information?

Emeritus may share your personal data with the following vendors/service providers which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing and Advertising Platforms: Companies that specialize in digital marketing, social media advertising, and online promotions.
  • Printing and Publication Services: Vendors responsible for printing brochures, flyers, and other marketing materials.
  • Social Media Platforms: Platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter where the testimonials will be shared.
  • Event Management Services: Companies organize online and offline events where my testimonials may be featured.

Emeritus will take reasonable steps, such as obtaining contractual commitments from our vendors/service providers, to limit and protect the use of your personal data by our vendors/service providers.

6. Cross-Border Data Transfer

Due to the global nature of our business, our service providers are present in and operating out of different countries. Your personal data may be shared, disclosed or transferred to countries other than your country of residence where the privacy and data protection law(s) may differ from those in your country. These cross-border data transfers are necessary to facilitate global access and use of your testimonials. Emeritus ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal data during such cross-border transfer and, in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection law(s).

7. Withdrawal of consent

You can withdraw your consent providing for processing of your personal data for the Purpose stated in this Notice by contacting testimonials@emeritus.org. Upon withdrawal, Emeritus shall remove your data at the earliest and in any case within 30 days of the date we receive your withdrawal request.

Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
