Together with various industry colleagues, we will be your host and guides helping you explore, understand, apply, and master the fundamental concepts of product data and analytics and strategic decision-making. Our overall objective in this course is to add a superpower to your executive toolkit that teaches you the why, what, and how of data-driven decision-making.

Data, data science, product analytics, analytics, intelligence, statistics are ubiquitous in every organization today with the advent of the Internet and digitization. Each of these words is interchangeably used even though they mean different things. We aim to unpack the life of data at an organization, take away the ambiguity of the definitions, and make sure you can articulate the value to C-level executives, boards, and investors that are always looking for analytical insight for strategic decisions.

In this program, we will follow a data journey framework with a lens on how a specific product and users of that product generate data that leads to significant executive decisions, organizational pivots, and product evolutions. We will look at examples of many products, large and small, that have made the transition to become more analytical in their approach. And provide you with a framework that you can apply to your product, whether you sell to consumers or other businesses.

For centuries, data and analytics were used whether it was understanding the time management efficiency in building the Egyptian pyramids, to measuring the speed of Henry Ford's first Model T assembly plant, to now having data for almost every interaction resulting in big data and cloud platforms that try to make sense of how you and I make personal decisions. Building on centuries-old frameworks of data and analytics, we aim to bring you into the new age by discussing how various parts of an organization digest data and analytics, ask the right questions and complex roles to data policy for users and gain insight and even automation using data.

We will take you through practical examples of how to generate, collect, ingest, model, clean, and turn data into magical analytics, insights, and automations while pushing you to create your own data product requirements document that you can leverage to make decisions for your own product idea. Don't worry, we won't get bogged down in tech or heavy statistical language.

Instead, we take a strategic and general manager mindset to approaching data and product analytics to make executive decisions in this class, knowing you can rely on a team of individuals, third-party experts, and tools and software that'll help you with the zeros and ones.

We hope that you are as excited as we are about this data and analytics journey we are embarking on. There are lots of exciting concepts, videos, and exercises ahead. So, let's get started.
