A long time ago, I was a senior researcher at the Harvard Business School Research Center in Latin America before joining academia. I work in investment bank in Brazil, where I advise foreign investors interested in investing in infrastructure projects in Brazil. I have done research and taught in more than 15 countries, and if you know me, you know that my personal life is also very global. I'm originally from Brazil. My wife is Argentinian, my kids were born in the UK and we live in France, so we can imagine, speak 4 languages at home, different accents. And I'm really passionate about global strategy and I'm looking forward to discussing with you some of the most important strategic considerations senior leaders like you need to know to deal as they define, or I would say today, quite often redefine the global strategy of their organizations.
The program consists of 5 modules. Module one is about global strategy in a new era of globalization or deglobalization. We will discuss current trends and challenges of globalization, internationalization as a growth lever, the 6 key strategic considerations in global strategy. And we're going to end that module talking about industry globalization drivers.
In Model 2, we'll focus on a key decision, global strategy. We have to compete. So some of the topics we're going to examine will be clusters and home based advantage, how to overcome the liability of foreigners. And we also address in that module different dimensions of distance, understand them, calculate them.
Then moving to Module 3, we will answer 3 questions in global strategy. Why, how and when to go global? More formally, we will identify motives for find direct investment, the tradeoffs among different entry modes, and sequence of internationalization. Still, Model 3, we will examine the global strategies of multinational companies headquartered in the margin markets.
Module 4, we'll talk about global open innovation and discuss the ways in which multinationals can create and share knowledge for global innovation. We also discussed the motivations and strategies to connect with partners all over the world. In that module, we also have the opportunity to analyze case studies from various industries to identify the benefits and challenges related to global open innovation. We'll conclude that module by identifying the key characteristics of digital multinationals that are engaging, for example, e commerce, digital content, digital solutions, or Internet platforms.
Finally, in Module 5, we'll focus on global innovability, in other words, how to integrate innovation and sustainability globally. We'll deep dive on a case study about any one of the most important energy companies in the world. To understand how multinational corporations can integrate innovation and sustainability, we also analyze they made obstacles preventing multinationals from fully benefiting from global open of ability and propose actionable solutions that you can implement to overcome such obstacles.
