INSEAD launches the Strategies for a Circular Economy – Online programme in collaboration with Emeritus

Delivered by Emeritus, the five-week programme helps business leaders and sustainability professionals create the right circular business model for their organisations to unlock value and achieve long-term growth.

FONTAINEBLEAU, FRANCE   INSEAD, The Business School for the World, is launching its inaugural Strategies for a Circular Economy – Online programme to prepare participants with critical skills in circular sustainability strategy and roadmap implementation. The programme is delivered by Emeritus, the global leader in making world-class professional education accessible and affordable. Enrolment is now open for a 26 March 2024 programme start.

The circular economy has the potential to deliver significant and positive business outcomes that go beyond corporate sustainability goals. According to recent research by Gartner, 60% of global enterprises will drive profitable growth through circular supply chain practices by 2026. Furthermore, 74% of supply chain leaders expect profits to increase between now and 2025 as a result of applying circular economy principles. However, the transition to circularity poses complex challenges for organisations. The Strategies for a Circular Economy – Online programme equips participants to position circularity as a value-driver for the business while mitigating roadblocks.

The programme’s application-based curriculum leverages INSEAD’s extensive experience in working closely with manufacturers to implement successful circular business models. The curriculum consists of five modules delivered via online video lectures and requires a weekly commitment of four to six hours. It enables participants to experience the circular business model from design to execution using a research-based circularity strategy framework developed by INSEAD faculty. The modules are accompanied by case studies from across industries, self-study activities, discussions and live faculty session for an enhanced learning experience. Participants will also undertake an in-depth action learning project on charting a realistic path towards circularity for their organisation. Upon completing the programme, participants are awarded a verified digital certificate by INSEAD Executive Education.

The programme is developed and taught by award-winning INSEAD faculty member and published thought leader Atalay Atasu, Professor of Technology and Operations Management, The Bianca and James Pitt Chair in Environmental Sustainability, and Academic Director, INSEAD Sustainable Business Initiative. Professor Atasu teaches about socially and environmentally responsible operations management with topics of interest including the circular economy, extended producer responsibility and environmental regulation.

“The circular economy represents a paradigm shift that requires innovative thinking and a departure from traditional take-make-dispose linear business models,” said Atasu. “INSEAD’s Strategies for a Circular Economy – Online programme provides a practical understanding of circular business models and the benefits offered. Participants will evaluate opportunities for circularity and identify the circularity strategy that best aligns with their organisation’s operations under the guidance of a pioneer in sustainable business education.”

“Emeritus is delighted to collaborate with the accomplished faculty at INSEAD to provide this impactful learning experience for business leaders and sustainability professionals seeking to achieve successful outcomes from circular practices,” said Mike Malefakis, president of University Partnerships at Emeritus.

The programme is currently enrolling interested participants and the fee is €1,990. To apply or request additional information, please visit the programme page here.
