The last few years have seen a resurgence and, as of 2022, 40% of leading companies had a COO.

In another report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), it is projected that there will be a fall of about 6% in various chief executive positions, which includes the COO, between 2020 and 2030. While this is what the BLS predicts, the report also states that this may not necessarily be the case, and about 8% of these positions could rise. 

Having said this, with digital transformations and the wavering business climate, organizations and CEOs will require COOs to help them act and meet targets.
