Welcome to the University of Michigan’s Chief Data and AI Officer Program. This program brings together faculty from the College of Engineering, Ross School of Business, and across the university to explore the evolution and impact of AI.
The program is built around two core principles. The first is a deep understanding of the technical foundations of AI, including what AI is and is not, how fast it is evolving, and the importance of secure, compliant, and accessible data. The second principle focuses on effectively leveraging AI to create organizational value by integrating business strategy and technical expertise.
These principles form four pillars of learning. The first pillar focuses on the foundations of value creation through AI, including data architecture and technical fundamentals. The second pillar emphasizes applying AI to create value in markets, operations, and decision-making. The third pillar addresses protecting and preserving value through risk management, security, encryption, and ethical boundaries.
The fourth pillar is an immersive in-person learning experience focused on developing leadership capabilities and building a rigorous, motivational AI strategy. The program culminates in a capstone experience where participants develop an integrated AI strategy aligned with organizational goals.
