What is Bard AI and How to Use It: Top Tips on the Future of Generative AI | Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning | Emeritus

Generative AI is the latest buzzword to have captured the imagination of technologists. They are excited to unearth the full potential of this data-driven content generation technology, in line with Gartner’s prediction of a tech-driven future powered by human-AI synergy. Moreover, the generative AI industry is pegged to reach $110 billion by 2030, on the back of tools such as ChatGPT and Bard AI—Google’s transformative language model—which are changing how we interact with the web. This blog discusses the disruptive possibilities of Bard AI. Let’s see how it could change the concept of search queries and define this innovation cluster.

What is Bard AI?

Bard AI, in simple words, is Google’s response to Open AI’s ChatGPT. Google came up with a beta version of Bard—an AI-powered chatbot with the ability to simulate human conversations with advanced Machine Learning (ML) models—in March 2023.

This generative AI agent is better equipped to understand how language works. Thus, it can mimic the conversational and analytical styles of humans. And, it can do so while answering user search queries.

How Bard AI works – The Role of Google LaMDA

What is Sentient AIThe Bard AI chat service is powered by Google’s patented ML program, LaMDA. Short for Language Model for Dialogue Applications, LaMDA uses a decoder-only transformer model and comprises pre-trained datasets of 1.56 trillion words. LaMDA, being an open-domain model, doesn’t have to be repeatedly trained for diverse conversations, subjects, and perspectives. You may recall how its high-level intelligent conversations became a point of controversy in 2022 when one of its programmers wrongly interpreted the ML chatbot as sentient

In terms of functionality, Bard AI works the same way as ChatGPT or IBM’s Watson.  But there are significant differences in how Bard perceives natural languages and utilizes language generation skills.

With Bard AI, Google will combine the intuitiveness of its language models with the depth of human knowledge on the Internet. Bard AI is equipped to pull fresh conversational responses to a variety of queries and take on multidimensional perspectives that Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, calls the “important next step on our AI journey”.

ChaptGPT, on the other hand, works as a large-scale content generator fine-tuned to execute extensive Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications and emulate human-style texts.

Bard AI vs ChatGPT: Which One is Better?

The use cases of ChatGPT have a much wider range thanks to its varied applications. ChatGPT can be used to write articles, news stories, and fiction. It is also used for informative content, marketing content, business, and financial reports, among other functions. ChatGPT is even equipped to take competitive exams, and the ability to learn and apply the existing knowledge is extended to understanding coding languages

Bard AI and Bing chatbot, on the other hand, are extended versions of their respective search engines: Google and Bing. In other words, Bard AI enhances the traditional concept of query searching and finding answers. It does so by understanding the intent behind a search query. This essentially puts raw search results within an organized and understandable context.

Another important distinction between ChatGPT and Bard AI is their information accessibility and database. Bard can access the internet to fetch relevant information. ChatGPT, due to limited knowledge of world events after 2021, does tend to provide wrong instructions or misleading content, according to its own website.

What is the Future of Generative AI?

A 2023 Gartner report claims that within the last three years, venture capital firms have invested about $1.7 billion in generative AI solutions with the trajectory of AI-enabled drug discovery being the most promising. By 2030, major blockbuster films will have 90% generative art in the form of videos made from text prompts.

The world of marketing and content production is already witnessing massive changes in modes of communication. With the integration of advanced GPT models in the marketing automation channels, 30% of outbound marketing messages could be synthetically generated.

The following spaces and industries will witness massive upheavals due to generative AI:

FAQs on Bard AI

Is ChatGPT Better than Bard AI?

Although the use cases of ChatGPT have a much wider palette, Bard AI is more accurate. This is because its transformer-based language model can access updated information from the internet.

How Can I Use Bard AI?

To use Bard AI, you have to register on the Bard AI website which hasn’t been opened to the public as of March 2023, except to a select few trusted users.

When will Bard AI be Released to the public?

Google has plans to roll out the official version of Bard AI within the coming months following its release in March.
