How Snigdha Sukhavasi Transitioned From Marketing to Product Management

How Snigdha Sukhavasi Transitioned From Marketing to Product Management | Product Management | Emeritus

For Snigdha Sukhavasi, the world of marketing had been home for over a decade. After working across various aspects of marketing, such as content, communications, branding, and strategy, Sukhavasi reached a point in her career where she yearned for something different. “After years in marketing, I realised that there was a direction I wanted to take—one that felt more aligned with my calling. I had been in product marketing, but I wanted to move deeper into product management roles,” she shares. However, moving from one well-established career path to another is never simple, and for her, this meant a thoughtful and structured transition.

This was when she decided to enrol in the ISB Executive Education’s Product Management Programme. The programme not only served as her first formal foray into the world of product management but also provided her with a foundation to build upon.

The Decision to Upskill

As a product marketing manager at an IT company, Sukhavasi was already somewhat involved in product-related discussions, but she realised that she needed a more comprehensive understanding of product management to make a full transition. “I’d always been interested in product management,” she reflects, “but I knew I needed to upskill. You can’t just move into a new field without the right knowledge base.”

Snigdha embarked on extensive research before selecting a product management programme. “I considered various options, but ISB Executive Education’s Product Management programme stood out for its reputation and the detailed course syllabus. I also heard great feedback from previous students. The programme seemed like the perfect fit for someone in my situation,” she says.

A Balance Structuring Learning and Flexibility. Just What Professionals Need

One of the key factors that appealed to Sukhavasi about ISB Executive Education’s Product Management Programme was its structure. As a working professional, she needed a course that could fit into her busy schedule without overwhelming her. “The programme was very conveniently structured. The weekend office hours, master classes, and overall format allowed me to balance my full-time job with my studies,” she notes.

The online nature of the course also provided flexibility. “The recorded lectures meant I could go at my own pace. Some days, I’d focus intensely and move quickly through the material, while other days, I’d take my time, rewatching certain parts to really grasp the concepts,” she explains.

Key Takeaways from ISB Executive Education’s Product Management Programme

“First and foremost, the course gave me a solid understanding of the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch. I had been involved in parts of this process before, but now I could see the full picture and how different teams collaborate,” remarks Sukhavasi.

Another critical aspect of the programme was hands-on learning. “We didn’t just sit through lectures; we got to apply the tools and frameworks to real-world scenarios. This hands-on experience made the concepts much more relatable and immediately useful in my job,” she shares. The networking opportunities provided by the course were another highlight for Sukhavasi. The peer-to-peer interactions and shared insights have continued to be a source of support and inspiration for her as she navigates her career transition.

A Strong Brand with Lasting Impact

For Sukhavasi, the ISB Executive Education brand played a significant role in her decision to pursue the programme. “ISB is a name that carries a lot of weight, both in terms of its reputation and the calibre of its faculty. The professors, especially Professor Raj, were incredible. They brought real-world experience and deep academic knowledge, making the learning experience very enriching,” she explains.

Beyond the brand recognition, she appreciated the course’s quality of instruction and its impact on her professional growth. “At the end of the day, it’s not just about adding a prestigious name to your CV—it’s about what you take away from the programme. For me, the ISB Executive Education programme has been transformative. It has equipped me with the skills I need to move into a product management role, and that’s the real value,” she says.

With the ISB Executive Education Product Management Programme under her belt, Sukhavasi is excited about the future. As she reflects on her journey, Snigdha Sukhavasi feels both proud and grateful for the experience. “It’s been an enriching journey, and I’m thankful for the peers and mentors I’ve met along the way. Learning with ISB Executive Education was not just a professional milestone—it was a personal growth experience as well,” she concludes.
